Beaten the content provided in a couple of runs, overall a solid foundation for a roguelike with a good variation in levels, enemies, and environments, but with much-needed changes to the combat and the amount of info available to the player, such as:
* Sometimes the enemy design didn't match their attack
* How effects such as Shock work are not explained
* The cooldown on the range attack is really slow
* The player is not easily aware of the range attack cooldown, being focused on the center of the screen.
* All the time-based attacks (such as the throwables launched by the skeletons) don't show their timers. Reducing the orange circles would help mitigate that (the closer the circle the less time you have to get out of the way). I don't know if the circle was also indicating the area of effect, in that case maybe another solution should be found.

And that is it for me, keep up the good work =)

Pretty fun roguelite!  I finished it in about 12:46 I think.  Feels modern and has a bit of PSX style graphics.  Good music choices.  Weapon upgrades aren't the best - each upgrade was worse than my current weapon except 1 time.  Combat felt pretty decent, but could use a bit more impact I think.

A really great start! Two feedback items from me:

  1. My SNES controller wasn’t recognized. I even tried restarting the game - likely a Unity thing though

  2. No matter which direction I’m facing, when I attack, the avatar is always shooting straight up

Awesome Demo! I think you should add some more feedback whenever the player takes damage though.

Hello! I completely played the demo of your game and loved it!

18 mins that was fast!

I played and got around halfway in the second area before I died. I had a good time! I like the game :)

I was playing on K&M (despite the main menu warning) and noticed that the dodges are tied to the direction the player is facing at that time instead of the keys I'm pressing, so for instance if I hold W and attack, then quickly hold S and then dodge, the model hasn't had enough time to turn around yet, so it dodges in a direction halfway in between. I'm biased considering I'm so used to the feature of the dodges being based on movement keys instead of the player model in Souls games, but I'd just like to share my thoughts on it.

Another thing is moving forward slightly when attacking with the starting weapon. It's not noticeable at first, but I dislike when you're wailing on the boss or enemy and keep going out of the attack range with the weapon from being pushed slightly forward every time you attack.

I do like how you can stun enemies for a short time by hitting them, it gives some breathing room and lets you focus on other enemies in the room and not be as overwhelmed. I'm not sure whether it's intentional or not, but I enjoy it :p

I would also recommend putting a "Quit to main menu" button on the pause screen. Although I'm not sure if I missed it since I wasn't too observant.

I'm not SUPER into roguelikes usually, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one, and I look forward to hearing more about this game in the future :)

i fixed the dodge issue yesterday so thanks for sharing!and thanks for playing my game!

This is so so so so cool!! The game plays super well and feels really good, other than a minor issue with the cursor freezing on laptop touchpad it was pretty seamless. Well done guys!!

thanks soo much! btw i'm a solodev :)

I played for a bit now and, first of all, I like that the character in the lobby is called Ubuntu :D

The game feels so fricking goooood!!! Buuuut, e.g., the lobby couuuld maybe look a bit friendlier and nicer, also differenciating to the rest of the rooms!

Your HP is a bit "hidden" in my opinion, so a bit difficult to see in the bottom right... Maybe put it in the top left or top-middle!

Slashing through the enemies already feels VERY cool BUT maybe reward the player when they killed an enemy?

oh and also the sfx could use some rework?

Overall an extremely juicy feeling, cool game!

any lag?

(1 edit)

sorry for the late response oops

havent noticed any lag
